Plant Conservation Programs at the San Antonio Botanical Garden

On Thursday, November 2, 2023, invited speaker Michael Eason, Associate Director of Conservation and Collections at the San Antonio Botanical Garden, will discuss the various plant conservation programs currently in place at the Garden and the need for such programs. All but one program is new as of 2022. The programs cover the breadth of Texas' flora, from the common to the rare and endangered. To date, these programs, and the rebuild of the Conservation Department at San Antonio Botanical Garden, have resulted in the Garden becoming a leading organization in plant conservation in the State of Texas. The Garden now houses over 80 species of rare plants, with an additional 300+ native species brought in for various areas of the Garden. The San Antonio Botanical Garden partners with organizations in Texas, throughout the USA and into Mexico, and is building more such partnerships to establish an enduring and scientifically significant conservation program.

Please note that this meeting will be held at the Trinity Episcopal Church, 909 Avenue D, in Marble Falls. Doors to the meeting will open at 9:30 a.m. for social time and light refreshments. A brief business meeting will start at 10:00 a.m. and Mr. Eason’s presentation will follow immediately. Weather permitting, there will be a pre-meeting bird walk starting at 8:00 a.m. in Johnson Park.
