Watching Wood-warblers (and Other Migrants) from Treetop to Forest Floor

Spring migratory birds are the focus of a presentation that Texas Nature Trackers’ wildlife biologist Craig Hensley will give to the Highland Lakes Birding and Wildflower Society (HLBWS) during the group’s April 6 meeting.

Mr. Hensley will share tips and tricks to identify many of the warblers and other songbirds that pass through the area each spring. NOTE: Mr. Hensley advises participants to bring their favorite field guides, because there will be an identification challenge at the end!

Craig Hensley is a life-long naturalist and educator, having shared his passion for and love of the natural world with audiences from Minnesota and Nebraska to across Texas. He has served as a Texas Nature Trackers Biologist for more than three years and is a life-long birder.

Plans for the morning include an 8:00 a.m. bird walk, weather permitting, with Mr. Hensley at Haley Nelson Park in Burnet. The doors at AgriLife open at 9:30 a.m. for some social time and the business portion of the meeting starts at 10:00 a.m. Mr. Hensley’s presentation immediately follows.
