Invited speaker Valerie Bugh will give a talk about “Galls, Leaf Mines and Other Anomalies” at this meeting of the Highland Lakes Native Plant Society of Texas (HLNPSOT). Specific topics to be covered include anomalies on plants that aren’t easily identified or explained, the non-plant organisms that can trigger such anomalies, and some of the intriguing ways in which such disparate species are able to co-exist. Ms. Bugh is a local naturalist specializing in the arthropods of the Austin area and interests in taxonomy and photography. She runs the Fauna Project at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, leads insect/wildflower discovery walks, teaches entomology and plant classes, provides insect/spider identifications, gives talks to local organizations, and is the author of pocket guides to "Butterflies of Central Texas," "Spiders of Texas," and "Unusual Insects of Texas."
Ms. Bugh will begin her remarks immediately after a brief business meeting of HLNPSOT. Anyone interested in learning more about the topic is welcome to attend.
