Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC), Feb. 16-19, Cornell Lab of Ornithology and Partners

  • Your Own Backyard or Favorite Birding Spots! (map)

You can contribute to a massive citizen science project just by watching birds and reporting your observations! From February 16-19, 2024, the Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC) will take place. On any or all of the specified dates, enjoy at least 15 minutes of birdwatching at home or your favorite birdwatching spots. Keep track of the species, and numbers of individuals within each of the species, that you see. You can use Merlin Bird ID or eBird to record all of your observations. That’s all there is to it! You get to have all the fun, and scientists around the globe get to mine the data to obtain critical information about bird populations worldwide. Talk about a win-win!
