HLBWS Field Trip: Pedernales Falls Bird Walk

  • Pedernales Falls State Park 2585 Park Road 6026 Johnson City, TX, 78636 United States (map)

Members and Invited Guests: HLBWS is planning a birding trip to Pedernales Falls State Park on Monday, November 8 to visit the bird blinds, pollinator garden, falls and the barn area birding trail. Anyone who prefers can stay at the bird blinds; for others the falls trail and barn trail together are less than a mile. Car pooling is encouraged for the 32-mile drive from Marble Falls to the park entrance. Recent bird sightings at the park include: wild turkey, kingfisher, osprey, scrub jay, woodpeckers, titmouse, chickadee, sparrows, shrike, raptors, towhee and a rare Blue-headed Vireo. Participants will need to bring their own binoculars, hat, sunscreen, repellent, water and a snack. There are lots of picnic tables if some would like to bring lunch and stay, but carpoolers can expect to be back in Marble Falls by noon unless all members of the car pool want to stay. If you do not have a park pass or senior pass, the day fee is $4.00, which can be paid for at the park entrance. Members, please refer to the announcement through Groups.io for information about how to sign up for the walk. More specific details will be sent to those who have signed up.
