HLBWS Field Trip to Spicewood Ranch

  • Meet Up at Spicewood Community Library 1011 Spur 191 Spicewood, TX, 78669 United States (map)

This HLBWS field trip to Spicewood Ranch is strictly limited to 10 HLBWS members. A large portion of Spicewood Ranch is under conservation easement, and the owner is actively restoring native grassland and other habitats on the ranch. Participants can expect to observe a variety of migratory species (e.g., raptors, sparrows, woodpeckers), and potentially resident species characteristic of the more arid Edwards Plateau (Black-throated Sparrows, Verdin, etc.). Birding will last until approximately noon. Afterwards, those who wish to can re-convene at Opie’s Barbecue in Spicewood for lunch. Members should check email for the full details and updates.
