Due to the extreme weather conditions, HLBWS will offer this meeting online ONLY via Zoom. There will be NO in-person meeting at the AgriLife Extension Service in Burnet. Members will receive email with the invitation. Guests who would like to join the Zoom session must complete and submit the Contact Us form to register for the meeting.

Scott Summers will present “Cowbirds 101” to the Highland Lakes Birding and Wildflower Society (HLBWS) on Thursday, February 3, 2023. Topics include cowbird identification, proliferation, nest parasitism, and the cowbird trapping program designed to protect endangered songbirds.

Mr. Summers holds a degree in Wildlife Biology from Texas State University. He has 25 years’ experience dealing with cowbirds and leads the program at Fort Hood.

Please note that the pre-meeting bird walk also has been cancelled due to the weather conditions.

The Zoom meeting will open a little before 10:00 a.m. Our business meeting will commence at 10:00 a.m. and our invited speaker will begin to present at approximately 10:30 a.m.
