“Intro to Pocket Prairies,” Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center

  • Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center 4801 La Crosse Avenue Austin, TX, 78739 United States (map)

John Hart Asher will lead this 2-hour class at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center in Austin. Grassland prairies were once abundant on earth. Now, less than 1% of native prairies remain intact in North America. Prairies have become one of the most endangered and least protected ecosystems on earth. “Pocket prairies” can be reintroduced into communities to help reverse this loss of biodiversity. Class participants will learn the steps needed for designing, installing and caring for a pocket prairie as it evolves over time. All ages and experience levels are welcome. The fee to attend this class is $35. Space is limited and registration is required, here. Face masks are optional.
