The business portion of the HLBWS meeting will start at 10:00 a.m. Beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 7, 2021, invited speaker Michael Eason will join the monthly meeting of HLBWS to focus on the geographic area where he has been researching and photographing plants extensively over the past two years. These efforts form the basis for Eason’s soon-to-be-published book, A Field Guide to the Plants of the Trans-Pecos. He will share information about common, uncommon and rare plants that he encountered during this time. Some of these plants are botanical treasures, having been rarely or even never before photographed. Eason will weave in stories of pollinator biology, seed dispersal, unusual facts and trivia about the plants of the Trans-Pecos region. There also will be some entertaining stories about unforgettable experiences “in the field,” while tracking down the unusual and hard-to-find plants in a remote part of the state.
