HLBWS members participate in the “Power Hour” of birdwatching by selecting one hour during the day to watch birds, recording the species observed and counting the number of individuals seen within each species. Members choose the location where they engage in birdwatching: their own backyards, nearby parks, anyplace that is convenient for them. Data are reported to the event coordinator for compilation, and summary results are reported back to members. It’s fun, compliant with public health guidelines, and gives members a chance to be “citizen scientists!”
