Texas Nature Trackers: Call to Action for Black-Capped Vireos

  • Inks Lake State Park 3630 Park Road 4 West Burnet, TX, 78611 United States (map)

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and the US Fish and Wildlife Service are seeking our help. Intermediate to expert birders are asked to serve as citizen scientists in monitoring black-capped vireos at Inks Lake State Park and Lost Maples Natural State Area in Texas. Each day from April 10 through July 1, 2021 participants can survey the designated areas (for most of us that would be at Inks Lake State Park) for black-capped vireos, record their observations using eBird, and add “BCVI PDM” to the comment field in eBird. All observations are to be made between the hours of sunrise and 1:00 p.m. on days when wind speeds are less than 12 mph and weather conditions are clear (no rain, fog, etc.). Please click here and see the poster image, below, for the Facebook post with specific details about this project.
