Rare Plants of Central Texas

Anna Strong, a Rare Species Botanist with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD), will explain what it means for a plant to be on the Species of Greatest Conservation Need, or SGCN, list at HLBWS’s October meeting. Ms. Strong will focus on some of the rare plants that are native to the Llano Uplift and greater Central Texas region, and what we can do to help these plants continue to exist.

The meeting will start at 10:00 a.m. on October 6, 2022, at the AgriLife Extension Service building, 607 N. Vandeveer, Burnet, TX 78611. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. for some social time. The pre-meeting bird walk will take place at 8:00 a.m. at Haley Nelson Park in Burnet if weather permits.
